Daniel Halász is a visual artist and researcher based between Budapest and Vienna. His work explores the material culture of peripheral communities, focusing on how resourcefulness manifests in everyday adaptation.
He is currently a PhD in the Arts researcher at KU Leuven / LUCA School of Arts (Belgium) and a DLA candidate at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (Hungary). Alongside his practice, he serves as a Visiting Professor at Central European University and Sopron University.
Halász holds an MFA in Photography from MOME Budapest and an MA in Scandinavian Studies from ELTE. His work has been exhibited internationally, including in Belgium, Canada, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Spain, Sweden, and the US. He was the winner of the Google Photography Prize (2010), the Budapest Photography Grant (2020), and the Robert Capa Grand Prize Fellowship (2020).
